From that patch level on, the saved games will be in "C:/Users/(user name)/Saved Games/Diablo II" or so. (rename the old version so you dont replace the GoG ones and break their launcher) You can get the BoBaFeTT Diablo Trainer to work as long as you directly run the old executable file. If that doesn't work, you could also register your game keys on the Blizzard website, and install the game from the download that is available there.
